Author of a great variety of writings , he is remembered for his poetry and drama, among other things he wrote. An out-spoken Socialist, Lorca died tragically during the upheavals in Spain. His body was never found, but the body of his work lives on. ******************************************** The book here presented, "La Zapatera Prodigiosa" (in English, "The Shoemaker's Prodigious Wife") is a play that was written some time between 1926 and 1930. It was first performed in 1930. Previously it had only been issued along with another work . Photo of Lorca on front flap. ******************************************* CONDITION : BOOK - NEAR VERY GOOD ; JACKET : GOOD ONLY This is a previously owned book that remains clean and serviceable, with the following particulars noted :: EXTERIOR Cover itself is clean and crisp with negligible wear; text-block edges are considerably darkened. / BINDING Tight / INTERIOR Paper is considerably toned (browned); there is a cute little bookworm hole that has been tunneled through a few of the beginning leaves, (including the title page - see picture); there is an stamp on the first page and the same on the title page ( Libreria y Perfumeria - "La Botanica" - 87 E 11th St. New York see picture - this was obviously the store from which the book was sold); there is also an old price stamped on the first page else all is clean and free of marking : no writing, underlining or marginalia. / DUST-JACKET The jacket has done its job- receiving the brunt of time's assault : there is some loss to the head of the spine, as well as nicking and small loss to the foot of the spine panel, and the spine is also darkened, weathered and stained; surface rub is moderate for the entire jacket, presenting more noticeably on the rear panel where there is also some scuffing; edge wear consists of a few scattered nicks, etc.
