From School Library Journal:
Grade 4-8-- An intriguing introduction to Spain's second largest city. The author adopts a smooth storytelling style that guides readers through a survey of 1992's Summer Olympics city. It is evident that care has been taken in the organization and format, despite a mundane set of sections (place, past, people, and on the tour bus) to present the dynamic spirit of the city through its history until the present day. Barcelona's quartet of world-famous artists--Gaudi, Sert, Miro, and Dali--are briefly mentioned. Photographs, albeit touristy in nature, are well focused and enhance the text. --Ronald Jobe, Univ . of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada

Review:
The Great Cities Library is a good choice for schools.... A surprising amount of a country's history is told...focusing on major historic events.... Besides describing the past, each volume focuses on the current lifestyle of the city and its people. -- Library Talk
