John graduated from Wheaton College, Illinois, and later served as Artist in Residence at Gordon College in Massachusetts, where he lived during the 80's. He now resides with his wife and three children in California.

As he struggles with his loss, Jonathan is gradually brought out of himself through his involvement with Donna Callaway, an aspiring championship roller skater. Along the way, Jonathan faces crises with parents and friends typical of young teenage boys, but he is guided through these conflicts by Ben's angel.
