Napoleon Hill was born into poverty, in a two-room cabin in rural Virginia on October 26, 1883, and his mother died when he was just ten years old. From these harsh beginnings, he worked his way up to becoming an advisor to Andrew Carnegie, considered at that time to be one of the most powerful men in the world. His association with Carnegie had a profound impact on Hill, and it was this relationship that helped him develop his own philosophy of success. Carnegie commissioned him to examine and explain the "process of success" by interviewing over 500 successful men and women including Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, George Eastman, Henry Rockefeller, Theodore Roosevelt, F.W.
