From School Library Journal:
Kindergarten-Grade 2-A newly illustrated edition of a book originally published in 1969, which contains 26 pleasant poems about girls, one for each letter of the alphabet. The young ladies are engaged in all sorts of activities, from having a tea party to playing baseball. Most of the verses tell a story of friendship- going well or badly-or contrast different personalities. They vary in quality; some of the rhymes are effective while others are predictable, but the better ones are upbeat and lively: "Jennifer, Josephine, Jill, and Jane/All went out for a walk in the rain...The girls all laughed at the jokes they knew/As they walked in the rain-/And the rain laughed too." Ohlsson's bright illustrations, done in colored pencil and pen and ink, are full of energy and laid out gracefully against ample white backgrounds. An attractive choice.
