Gr 3-5--The Fradins cover Oregon's geography, climate, wildlife, history, people, and economy; provide a tour of the Beaver State; and introduce famous residents. The text is supported by full-color photographs of beautiful scenery, as well as by black-and-white historical photographs. ``Did You Know'' and ``Oregon Information'' sections outline statistical data and other handy material needed for reports. With its large type and brief paragraphs, this is similar to Gretchen Bratvold's Oregon (Lerner, 1991). The vocabulary and writing style make it more accessible than R. Conrad Stein's Oregon (Children's, 1989). A good addition for any collection.
